Karaoke

Staring at a screen
Trying to memorize words
Hoping I don't embarrass myself
In front of her

That's how I felt
When I first sang karaoke
I was scared and afraid
Of she would think of me

Now I realize more than ever
The similarities and relativity
Between my life and everyone else's
And what we know as karaoke

I mean, what is life for some
but an attempt to fit in & fall in place
like singing a song you don't know
While reading it on a stage

And this is the cycle we live by
The eternal struggle of life
Fitting in seems much better
Than being alone and full of strife

But fuck the cycle, lets end it
Lets sing our own lyrics for a change
Lets write out a new cycle
Lets start a new page

So instead of singing a song
To a beat that's foreign to me
I'll live my own life with my own rules
No longer a victim to Karaoke
