A happy memory
One of God’s precious gifts
I just sit in awe sometimes
Because of how profound it is
It’s like that with everyone, I think.
Memories, happy ones anyway
Subtle reminders of what happened
Of the good ol’ days
It’s like you’re on cloud
And you’re just floating around
Not even looking down
With the biggest smile
You float through the better days
You miss them so much
You feel oh so warm
That’s what a memory does
It captures you for just a moment
The briefest periods of time
Smallest space of a second
So small yet so divine
Let me share some of mine with you
It’s so much better when you can show people
It makes it more real
Makes it more special
I was raised by the best woman
And given the best things
Nah we weren’t rich by any means
But we were so happy
My grandfather and uncle
They taught me the way of the man
How to be tough and brave
and to stand up for myself anyway I can
My sister was always there with me
Anywhere I went, she protected me
I even miss her teasing me
Wish she never had to leave
I literally floated through childhood
If something bad happened to me
Or anyone around me
It never made it into my memories
