The Trance and The Dance

Her smile started the dance
And to be quite honest, she was lovely
Off guard by just a glance
Stuck in a trance, she kept me

We did a little dance for a bit
We felt happy, or so I thought
And that was where I got stupid
Stuck in a trance, I was caught

I only danced with she
For my skills were not up to par
But her dance was wanted by many
Many sought her from afar

My brother warned me of her
But the trance was heavy
My morals? Didn’t know where those were
All I knew and had ever known was she

But they returned
My senses came back
The trance was still heavy
But my head was back on track

I wanted to dance forever
She couldn’t imagine it
Our dances slowly differed
Until we finally split

Then we stopped dancing for a while
And she found a new half
Now much too bitter to smile
I looked at them, still in a trance

I no longer have her
I no longer want to dance
I no longer have to hurt
I’m no longer in her trance
