I drink my coffee black because I deserve the bitterness.
I don't deserve your saccharine sweet smile, or the silky undertones of your creamy aesthetics that dilute the dark brew into a shade that matches your eyes.
I deserve the boiling heat searing my tongue too weak to tell you, and my mouth that will never meet yours.
I deserve the bitter scent wafting into my nose that remembers yours. Yes, it remembers your sweet, slight musk.
I deserve to grit my teeth at the bold bite rivaling the strength of which I bite my tongue when you're around.
I deserve to clasp the too hot mug in the same way I curl my hands into fists when I see you with another you put before me.
I deserve to have my coffee black in the same way I do not deserve you.
