Song Of The Moment

Medusa

You are Medusa
I am not Perseus.
No, I am a beached sailor
who had come many miles in search
of a treasure you cannot provide.
I don't have a mirrored shield
to defend myself. It is just you and I.
And when my eyes trail from those
faerie-esque feet upwards, taking in the sight of you,
I am captured.
From your legs, to your hips, to your chest, and your lips,
God, you're a sight for an exhausted sea man.
But it's when I reach those deadly eyes,
I am truly paralyzed.
I feel it in my feet, and the top of my brain.
I am ingrained to the very spot our eyes met, and my mind
is dominated with a singular thought of you, engrained forever.
My eyes are unable to tear away as I am sculptured mid stride.
Finally, the granite reaches my chest, and my heart is permanently
frozen in a state of belonging to you.
And a small smile plays upon your face, or maybe I imagine it
in my last seconds of life,
because you know what you've done.
You have me, as you've had many other men just like me.
I was foolish, and you were beautiful.
