Song Of The Moment

Dear Summer

Dear Summer,
I met you the 21st of June
Those were the times we’d have to wait til 9 to greet the moon
I’d fall asleep at 4 A.M. and you’d let me sleep til noon
Your golden embrace was stolen from me while I slept on the 20th of September
I woke up cold on the 21st, you were gone, and all I could do was remember

Dear Summer,
Your two-faced friend Autumn has taken me away
But it was by force
I pleaded for you to stay
She hauled me away on a chariot connected to a red and orange horse
We galloped until the leaves started to kiss the ground
The same way you’d kiss me through my window, while I was asleep and sound

Dear Summer,
I’m lost under a sea of white powder
I’m screaming for it to go away but only you have that power
Autumn changed her name to Winter and the mercury no longer rises
The freeze, the pain, the ache, all different sizes
I’m under attack at all times and I’m longing for you
There’s a rumor going around that you’re coming back - is it true?

Dear Summer,
It’s now the 20th of June
Spring told me that you’re coming tomorrow
She was kind to me, but I’m still in love with you
Her warmth reminiscent of you helped me conquer my sorrow
What are you going to say when you see me again?
Are you still my lover, are you just a friend?
Kiss my lips with all the passion rooted deep in the sun’s core
And even when I try to pull away, engulf me some more
Make me scared of the cold again
Make me believe that losing you once more is the equivalent to the arrival of Planet X
If you leave again all the stars go supernova, our solar system meets its end
Tonight I will sleep at 4 A.M., wake me up at noon, my golden gem.
