Did you hear of it?
Not the death of a human
But the death of one’s spirit.
And you all killed it.
You with your hatred
Your undying desire to fake it
Trying to mask it.
But he knew, didn’t he?
He knew what you had said of him.
He knew not what he had done to you
But he knew you hated him.
Yes your hatred killed him.
It stabbed him until his blood filled the streets.
Until he cried for you to stop as he fell to his knees
Until all you could remember were his screams
Yes, you killed him.
And you all killed it.
You with your lack of understanding.
Your stubbornness to try to know him
Your unwillingness to show him
Just where he should go.
You never believed him when he said he didn’t know
You thought it to be outright stupidity
When he had to ask you “do you love me?”
Yes your ignorance killed him.
Until he wished for death on a whim.
Until he wanted to overdose on his white lover
Until he wasn’t sure if he was your enemy or your brother
Yes, you killed him too.
And you all killed it.
You with your judgment.
Your know-it-all presence.
And your revulsion.
As if redemption was foreign to you,
As if you had never told him “I love you too”
As if he was Satan himself and you were a saint
As if his hands were so black, you wouldn’t allow one taint
Yes your judgment killed him.
Until he thought he didn’t deserve anyone’s love.
Until he rejected one who did because he thought he should be dead.
Until the words you uttered to him haunted him & invaded every thought in his head
Yes, you killed him too.
You all killed him, it’s true.
By rejecting each other instead of lovingly embracing
Witness how humanity destroys itself, it’s repeating.
The effects are speaking.
So the boy who’s becoming a man,
Lost faith in man.
Man became something he could not stand.
And when the murder was over as quick as it began,
He gave up.
There was a murder today,
Did you hear of it?
Not the death of a human
But the death of one’s spirit.
We're all killers.
We're all killers.
